Furman University is one of the most prestigious liberal arts colleges in the country, with almost 3,000 students in 42 majors. Furman students have a lot on their minds as they work to keep up with their studies. Fortunately, they do not have to be worried about finding places to eat near campus that won’t break the bank. There are many great eating establishments in Greenville that will make sure students can keep their stomachs and their wallets full. Take a view of the most popular joints in town to see how easy dining on a budget near Furman University can be!

Campus Dining

Oftentimes, a lot of the best eating in town can be found right on the Furman campus! The Charles E. Daniel Dining Hall offers “all-you-care-to-eat” portions from a great variety of stations. Students may choose from pasta, pizza, stir fry, grilled food, and more. Alternatively, you can stop by The Paddock for all of your favorite pub-style dishes. The Paddock’s gourmet hand-blended milkshakes are very popular with students. You can enjoy one while sitting on the outside terrace, which overlooks the Rose Garden and Swan Lake.

If you are playing a round at the campus golf course, you can easily grab a bite to eat at Traditions Grille. You can order your choice of tasty sandwiches, salads, and grilled items and then continue your game!

Sometimes you are looking for a restaurant setting where you can kick back and be yourself. Visit America’s Sports Bar & Grill for your favorite dishes in American fare, including burgers, hot dogs, wraps, and more than 13 flavors of wings. You will be sure to “Come Friendly, Leave Friendly,” as their motto says!

Another casual option is Nose Dive, a local gastropub with unique twists on standard pub fare, craft beers, and interesting wines. Visit them regularly to see their brunch specials, the burger of the day, and their signature cocktails.

Finally, be sure to put Cheddar’s on your casual eatery list! They offer a very comfortable atmosphere and delicious dishes with ingredients freshly prepared in-house every day.

Students looking for a culinary cultural experience without spending too much money are in luck. The Lazy Goat on River Street, for example, serves “made from scratch” Mediterranean fare with African, Middle Eastern, and western European influences. You could also try Papa’s & Beer for affordable but authentic Mexican food. Papa’s has a casual environment, but their specials, like their Chile Verde Burrito and their classic Fiesta Salad, bring a unique flair to the menu. Students may also visit Pita House for a traditional Middle Eastern meal. Their vegetarian Falafel Plate is a popular dish prepared with natural seasonings. Pita House also has a grocery section, where visitors may purchase deli and bakery items to take home.

If you are attending Furman University and need to control your spending when dining out, there is no cause for concern. There are many options in Greenville that will give you a great experience eating out without cutting too far into your budget.
