All-night study sessions. Countless ounces of caffeine. Bleary-eyed, early morning exams. These are probably the most common things you associate with college, but a big part of higher education happens outside of the classroom, too. Getting out there and meeting new people is just as important as keeping that GPA up, and, lucky for you, there are plenty of things to do near Bob Jones University. Here are just a handful of Greenville’s most popular nightlife spots.

Billiards and Games

College students who like a little friendly competition can head to the Local Cue Game and Sports Bar. Located off Orchard Park Drive near Interstate 385, this barbecue joint is a great spot for watching local and national sporting events on the TVs or challenging someone to a friendly game of pool. Local Cue also offers video gaming and plenty of booths for enjoying classic American plates, such as smoked ribeye sandwiches or barbecue shrimp. Most of Local Cue’s entrees land somewhere between $8 to $12, but you can snag an even better deal during happy hour.

Wine Bar

Those looking for a more upscale location for de-stressing can head to Stellar, located on Main Street in Greenville. Here you can sample a spread of fine wines, bourbons, and other spirits, along with gourmet cheeses, seafood, and steaks. The atmosphere is chic enough for bringing a date or hosting an intimate gathering. Prices here are on the higher end, with entrees such as the Maine lobster risotto and Texas ribeye running between $26 to $35. Not to be missed, the Chocolate Fondue for Two, a perfect sweet to share on a first date. Stellar also serves up a variety of delicious house cocktails, such as the Stellar Tea and the Stellar Manhattan, which range from $9 to $15 each.

Comedy Club

Students who have had a hard week can let loose with laughs at The Comedy Zone, which features local comedians as well as celebs like Sinbad and Nene Leakes. The Comedy Club always involves at least a little audience participation, but you can really steal the spotlight on open mic nights every Thursday evening. Most tickets range from $12 to $30 depending on the featured comedian, making The Comedy Zone affordable enough for most college students. It’s located on North Main Street on the northern side of Greenville.

Some of the best nightlife near Bob Jones University can be found at Blues Boulevard Jazz located on River Street in Spartanburg. This classy club offers jazz music from both local and widely known artists Thursdays through Sundays. Expect eclectic drinks and tapas to match the trendy music. The muted blue lighting sets the tone for relaxation. Sink your teeth into the Jazzy House salad for $10 or the Bacon, Black, and Blue burger for $12. Guests here can also try one of the signature cocktails, most of which cost about $10 each.

Students at Bob Jones University who want to experience some local nightlife in between study sessions can check out one of these fun options, or simply head out on the town and discover something completely new in this historical city.
